THE COMMITTEE TO REFORM DEMOCRACY IN CALIFORNIA

The goal of the initiative is to stop political corruption and bribery. Since our politicians have no interest in ending their gravy train, we are thankful for the initiative process. Initiatives are qualified for the ballot on a local basis, by county. Petitions are circulated in each county, and turned in to that county's County Clerk. This means we will have to develop a serious local support network. Forming county committees seems the best way to go.

County committees should work towards mounting a successful petition drive. This will require three things. First, finding a core group of local supporters. This core group needs to develop a plan to promote the initiative and draw supporters. We are preparing press releases to the major regional newspapers, television, and radio stations in California in mid-September to announce the official opening of our Initiative Campaign on October first, 2006. Through these effort we hope to find key people all over California to begin to form local chapters.

Each of the core supporters should access a couple of like-minded friends or acquaintances to help get the word out. Plan a letter writing campaign to local and regional newspapers, call-ins to radio stations, and calls to the local news directors of your local television stations. If you cite the website, we will direct all interested parties to the local chapters. The local chapters will have to organize this interest into an effective petition drive.
